Photo finish decides 2017 Star Sailors League champions

With racing taking place in a balmy, near perfect 15 knots on Nassau’s Montagu Bay, the ‘take no prisoners’ shoot out on the last day of the Star Sailors League Final saw the fleet narrow to seven teams after the Quarter Finals and to four after the Semis. Finally this left the finals being contested by France’s Xavier Rohart/Pierre-Alexis Ponsot, Britain’s Paul Goodison sailing with German Frithjof Kleen, Brazil’s Robert Scheidt/Henry Boening and the USA’s Mark Mendelblatt/Brian Fatih, the latter crew having ‘fast tracked’ straight through after decisively winning the qualifiers yesterday.

In the final race, Mendelblatt/Fatih led off the line and all the boats heading out to the left. Goodison/Kleen benefitted on the right and coming into the weather mark just squeaked in ahead of the Americans...

Women’s Rugby Introduced in Grand Bahama

This Saturday December 2 Nassau ladies will be coming to Freeport to show case Rugby to girls and ladies interested in playing the sport. ALL interested girls/ ladies should be at The Club for 2pm for coaching sessions. This will be followed at 4pm by an Inter Men's squad game and then the girls/ladies will play from 5pm-6pm. Goombay Splash Bowl 2017

The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association is hosting its annual Goombay Splash Bowl ITF Tournament. The Qualifying round was held this past weekend and the Main Draw (32-Draw) begins TOMORROW and runs through Saturday, November 25. Matches start at 9:00 a.m. daily at the National Tennis Centre, Q. E. Sports Centre.

This tournament will showcase junior players ranging from ages 13 – 18 from all around the world such as: the United States, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago, Canada, Japan, China, Norway, Ecuador...

ITF Goombay Splash coming to National Tennis Centre

The ITF sanctioned U18 tournament and U14 COTECC tournament will be held from November 20 to 25 at the National Tennis Centre in Nassau.

Some of the country's top junior tennis athletes and many international athletes will be participating. Matches begin daily at 9 a.m.

The Bahamas Olympic Committee: Death of Sir Arlington Butler

It is with regret and deep sadness that The Bahamas Olympic Committee announces the death of Sir Arlington Butler, former President of The Bahamas Olympic Association and one of the heroes of the Olympic Movement in The Bahamas and around the world.  Sir Arlington passed away in hospital in Nassau, capital city of The Bahamas, on 9th November, 2017 after a long illness.  He is survived by his wife, and four grown children.

Sir Arlington led The Bahamas Olympic Committee from 1972 – 2008 and led the country to eight Olympic Games during that time...
